What we do

Auto electrical, start to finish

Shaun is an auto electrician, here to help for most electrical problems and fault finding, upgrades and repairs. Here is the bulk of it.

Diagnosis and fault finding

Most electrical problems and fault finding, on the tools with proper diagnostic gear rather than guesswork.

Starting and charging systems

Starting and charging system repairs and upgrades, plus batteries, starters and alternators.

Mobile breakdown service

Mobile service available across the Snowy Mountains, so a flat battery or a dead starter does not have to mean a tow.

Dual battery and solar

Dual battery and solar installation, for campers, touring rigs and anything that has to run away from mains power.

Lighting and spotlights

Lighting and spotlight repairs and upgrades, wired properly so they last through a Monaro winter.

Repairs and maintenance

Ongoing repairs and maintenance, including reprogramming engine management software where a job calls for it.

In the workshop

Twelve volt, and everything past it

Auto electrical covers a lot of ground, and the wiring in front of you is rarely the wiring in the manual. Twelve volt systems, dual batteries and solar, lighting, starting and charging, and the one off work that comes through the door in a mountain town.

If you are not sure whether it is something Shaun handles, the fastest way to find out is to ring and ask.

The workshop

A shed in Jindabyne, and a ute that goes to you

Some jobs want a bench, a roof and a proper set of tools. Others cannot move, because the vehicle will not start. Both are covered.

Straight from the ute

Mobile breakdown service. Batteries. Starters. Alternators.

That is what is written on the back of the ute, and it is what turns up when you ring.

About

Shaun Price

Shaun has held his Certificate III in Automotive Electrical since 2008, which puts him the better part of two decades into the trade. The business has been trading under the Jindabyne Auto Electrical name since 2021, after starting out as Shaun Price Roadside Assist.

The reviews all use his first name, because Shaun is the one who picks up the phone, looks at the vehicle and tells you what it needs.

A good share of the work is people who are a long way from home: skiers, tourers and travellers who have had something go wrong on the wrong side of the mountains. That shapes how the work gets done, because a stranded car is a stranded holiday.

Shaun's expertise is second to none, he went above and beyond to help us out when our car developed a major electrical fault and broke down while in Jindy on a ski holiday. He diagnosed the problem, replaced the faulty parts, reprogrammed the engine management software on got us back up and running in good time. Thanks again Shaun!

Over 400kms from home, found myself stranded with a car that wouldn't start. Shaun had it diagnosed, ordered the right part, installed and all fixed up in under 24 hours… then charged me less than he'd quoted. Top shelf service.

Brought my VW Passat in with an engine fault light on the dashboard, an hour later it was fixed - new glow plug fitted, all tested and ready for me! These guys really know what they're doing. I'm very grateful.

Shaun was extremely helpful and knowledgable. He saved us during our road trip - our a/c went out while we were having 30-40 degree days. He was able to identify the problem and fix it for us in order for us to travel back home comfortably. Thank you Shaun - especially for making time for us during such a busy period - and getting us back on the road quickly and cool!
